In its natural environment, the Rice Flower grows in a range of habitats, including coastal regions, heathlands, and open woodlands. Commonly found in New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania | |
Leaf information: | Slightly rough leaf texture due to the presence of short hairs on the branches and foliage. |
Preferred Soil: | Prefers dry, well drained soils |
A compact small shrub that has aromatic curry-scented leaves and clusters of white flowers all year round that are pink in bud. Ozothamnus make superb long lasting cut flowers, and cutting them for this use will help stimulate new flowering growth as well.
Care Considerations: | Ensure regular watering during the early growth stages, then reduce frequency as the plant matures. Can be pruned back reasonably hard each year to maintain shape and encourage healthy growth. However, avoid pruning back into old wood as the stems may not reshoot. **Tip pruning by pinching out new growth can promote better flower production and maintain a more compact growth habit. Water in well after fertilizing to prevent leaf burn. |
