Our Story

Dedicated to creating great life!

Gardens have a remarkable ability to change everyday life. They can attract birds, grow food, create shade, support wildlife or simply provide somewhere peaceful to sit. Whatever your garden looks like, it has the potential to become one of the most rewarding parts of your home.

That's what inspired Livable Garden Centre.

A person wearing a wide-brimmed hat and dark shirt kneels on dry grass while planting a small green shrub into loose soil, with a black nursery pot lying nearby.

Three different paths. One shared belief.

Livable Garden Centre grew from three very different perspectives.

One of us approaches the garden through science and observation.

One brings decades of practical landscaping experience.

One came to gardening from a city background, bringing the organisation and curiosity that help turn ideas into something practical.

We have each arrived here by a different path, made our own mistakes and learned different lessons along the way. What we share is the belief that gardening should feel practical, enjoyable and achievable—without the pressure to create something perfect.

The Orchard Friends Plant Pack features dense greenery, vibrant purple lavender, elegant white blooms, and tall border plants—perfect for wildlife gardens. Create lively layers and stunning natural beauty along winding grassy paths to attract bees and butterflies.

There is no perfect garden.

Over the years we've made plenty of mistakes.

  • We've planted things in the wrong place.
  • Lost plants.
  • Changed our minds.
  • Started again.

That's all part of gardening.

We don't believe every garden needs to follow a strict set of rules or achieve perfection. Gardens change over time, just as people do.

Our goal isn't to tell people there is one right way to garden.

It's to help people make informed choices and enjoy the process.

There isn't one right way to garden.

Working with nature.

Many of the ideas that guide us come from permaculture and observing how natural systems work.

Rather than trying to control every part of a garden, we believe it's often better to work with local conditions, choose suitable plants and allow nature to do much of the heavy lifting.

That doesn't mean following a particular philosophy or set of rules.

It means finding practical approaches that work for you, your garden and the way you want to live.

Lush green foliage fills this Orchard Friends Plant Pack, featuring tall stems topped with vibrant purple blooms and a mix of textured, feathery leaves. Ideal for wildlife gardens, its unique flowers attract pollinators as sunlight dances through the display.

Every garden is different.

Some people have acres of land.

Others have a courtyard or apartment balcony.

Some people enjoy collecting hundreds of different plants.

Others are happiest with one favourite tree.

None of those gardens is better than another.

A successful garden is simply one that brings value to the person who created it.

Why we created Livable Garden Centre.

We created Livable Garden Centre because we wanted to make gardening easier.

Not by removing the learning.

Not by pretending there is only one right answer.

But by providing practical information, carefully selected plants and gardening products, and local delivery so people can spend less time searching and more time enjoying their gardens.

Lush green basil and striking purple sage flowers stand tall in a sunlit garden. The vivid purple blooms and vibrant leaves attract pollinators, making them perfect for wildlife gardens. The soft, blurred background highlights their natural beauty.

We are still learning.

Gardening has a wonderful way of reminding us that nobody knows everything.

We continue to learn through experience, research and the people we meet along the way.

If you've discovered something that works, we'd love to hear about it.

Because great gardens grow through shared knowledge as much as they grow through plants.
