Privacy policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Livable Garden Centre Pty Ltd (“Livable Garden Centre”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates this online store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services (the “Services”). Our store is powered by Shopify. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information when you visit or use the Services, make a purchase, chat with us, or otherwise communicate with us.

We are based in Queensland, Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and with other privacy laws that apply to us. If this Privacy Policy conflicts with our Terms of Service, this Privacy Policy applies to the collection, handling and disclosure of your personal information.

Personal information we collect

“Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, billing and shipping address, phone number and email address.
  • Payment and transaction information: payment method, payment confirmation, order details, items purchased, returned, exchanged or cancelled, and order history. Card details are handled by our payment providers. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Account information: username, password, preferences and settings.
  • Shopping activity: items you view, add to your cart or wishlist, search for, or purchase.
  • Communications: the content of emails, phone calls, contact forms, live chat and AI-assisted chat conversations with us, and any photos or attachments you send.
  • Reviews: product reviews, ratings, photos and the name you choose to show with a review.
  • Location and delivery information: your delivery address and postcode, and your approximate location (for example, from your IP address). We use these to check delivery availability, calculate delivery options and fees, and schedule your delivery.
  • Device and usage information: IP address, device and browser type, cookie identifiers, pages visited, referring website or advert, and how and when you use the Services.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health or racial information). Please don’t include it in messages or chats.

You can browse the Services without an account. If you don’t give us certain information, such as a delivery address, we may not be able to fulfil your order.

How we collect personal information

  • Directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, subscribe, leave a review, contact us, or use our chat.
  • Automatically, through cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies on the Services (see “Cookies, tracking and advertising” below).
  • From service providers and partners, such as Shopify, payment providers, and advertising platforms like Google and Meta (for example, information about which advert led you to our store).

How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide the Services: process payments, check delivery availability for your area, fulfil and deliver orders, handle returns and exchanges, manage your account, issue invoices and receipts, and keep business and tax records.
  • Communicate with you: answer enquiries, provide customer support (including through AI-assisted chat), and send order and account notifications.
  • Request and publish reviews: send review requests after a purchase and show reviews on our store.
  • Market and advertise: send marketing emails or SMS where you have consented (you can unsubscribe at any time), and show you relevant adverts on other sites and platforms, including Google, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Measure and improve: understand how the Services and our advertising perform, and improve our products, store and customer service.
  • Run our business: with the help of the software tools described below, including AI tools that help our team analyse store data, answer questions and prepare reports.
  • Prevent fraud and protect security: detect, investigate and prevent fraud, misuse or unlawful activity.
  • Meet legal requirements: comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our terms.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools

We use AI tools in parts of our business. You should know about two in particular:

  • AI-assisted chat on our store. We use Shopify to power AI-assisted chat on our online store (Shopify Inbox and the Inbox agent). If you use the chat, you may be talking with an automated AI assistant rather than a person. Shopify processes customer data, including your chat communications, to generate responses and to improve the quality of the Inbox agent over time. Our team can see chat conversations and may step in at any point. If you would like to speak with a person, ask in the chat or contact us using the details below.
  • AI tools used by our team. Our staff use Claude, an AI assistant provided by Anthropic, PBC, which connects to our Shopify store through the Shopify Claude Connector app. Through this connection, Claude may process store data, including customer names, contact details and order information, to help us with tasks such as customer service, reporting, analysis and running our business. Anthropic processes this information on our behalf and stores it in the United States. Under our commercial agreement with Anthropic, it does not use our business data to train its AI models.

We do not use AI to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Our team reviews any significant decision about your order or account.

Cookies, tracking and advertising

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies to run the store (for example, to keep your cart), remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Services, and measure and personalise advertising. These include:

  • Google Ads and the Google tag. These measure ad performance and conversions and show you relevant Google ads. Information such as your device, browsing activity on our store and purchase events may go to Google.
  • Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API. These measure ad performance and show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. Information such as your device, browsing activity and purchase events may go to Meta.
  • Customer list matching. We may give Google or Meta hashed (encoded) contact information, such as your email address or phone number, so we can show relevant ads to existing customers or find similar audiences, or exclude you from ads. The platforms match this information against their own users. They do not use the hashed information for any other purpose.
  • Shopify personalised advertising. We use Shopify to support personalised advertising with third-party services based on your activity with different merchants and websites.

Your choices:

  • Use the cookie banner or privacy settings on our store to manage non-essential cookies.
  • Change your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Some parts of the store may stop working properly if you do.
  • Manage Google ad personalisation at https://adssettings.google.com.
  • Manage Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings under “Ad preferences”.

Who we disclose personal information to

We disclose personal information only for the purposes in this Privacy Policy, or where you have consented or the law allows. This includes:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and provides payments, checkout, Shopify Inbox (customer chat and the AI Inbox agent), Shopify Flow (automation), Search & Discovery, Bundles and Knowledge Base features.
  • Anthropic (Claude), through the Shopify Claude Connector app, to help our team with customer service, analysis and business tasks (see “Artificial intelligence (AI) tools”).
  • Google, for advertising, measurement and analytics.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising and measurement.
  • Judge.me, to send review requests and to collect and display product reviews.
  • Xero, our accounting software, which receives order, invoice and customer billing details.
  • Invoice Hero, to create and send order invoices.
  • Wodely, to check delivery availability, calculate delivery options and fees, and schedule delivery dates for your order. Wodely receives your delivery address, postcode and order details.
  • Payment providers, to process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Delivery and courier partners, to deliver your orders.
  • IT, email and cloud providers (such as Microsoft 365), who store and process our business records and communications.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and lawyers.
  • Government authorities, regulators or law enforcement, where the law requires or allows it.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business, or part of it, is sold, merged or restructured.

We require our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only to provide services to us. Some partners, including Google, Meta and Shopify (for its enhanced features), also handle information under their own privacy policies:

We do not sell your personal information.

Relationship with Shopify

Shopify hosts the Services and collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services to provide and improve them for you. Information you submit through the Services goes to Shopify and to third parties that may be located outside Australia. To help protect, grow and improve our business, we use certain Shopify enhanced features that combine information about your interactions with our store, with other merchants and with Shopify. For these features, Shopify is responsible for processing your personal information, including responding to requests to exercise your rights. To learn more, visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy (https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/app-users) or the Shopify Privacy Portal (https://privacy.shopify.com/en).

Overseas disclosure

Many of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. Your personal information is likely to be disclosed to, or stored in, the United States, Canada, Ireland and other European Union countries, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The exact countries depend on the provider. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

If we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the destination country has been found to provide adequate protection.

Marketing

We send marketing emails and SMS only where you have consented or where the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) otherwise allows. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also opt out by contacting us. If you opt out, we will still send you non-promotional messages, such as order confirmations and delivery updates.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include using reputable, secure service providers and limiting staff access. No system is completely secure. Please don’t send sensitive information through unsecured channels.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. For example, we keep transaction records for at least five years to meet Australian tax obligations. When we no longer need personal information, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

Children

The Services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. You may also be able to ask us to delete your information, or to give you a copy of it. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first. We will usually respond within 30 days. We will not charge you to make a request, but we may charge a reasonable fee to provide access. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why, as far as the law allows.

People outside Australia may have other rights under local law, such as the GDPR. Contact us to exercise them. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. You can also manage information that Shopify processes through the Shopify Privacy Portal at https://privacy.shopify.com/en.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first using the details below. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. If you live outside Australia, you may be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when our practices, our service providers or the law change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date.
