Why we love this plant!

A hardy and adaptable native shrub, Yellow Tea-Tree thrives in South East Queensland’s diverse conditions, from coastal sand dunes to rocky bushland. It produces a profusion of creamy white flowers in spring and summer, attracting bees and other pollinators, supporting local biodiversity. With its dense growth, it provides shelter for small wildlife while also functioning as a windbreak or screen. Highly drought and frost tolerant, it’s a resilient choice for native plantings, rockeries, or erosion-prone areas where soil stabilisation is needed.

Care Considerations

Watering preferences:

  • Requires low to moderate watering and becomes drought tolerant once established.

Mulching preferences:

  • Applying organic mulch may help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Fertilising preferences:

  • Minimal fertilisation is required, but a light feed with a native plant fertiliser during the growing season may support healthy growth.

Pruning preferences:

  • Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage denser growth.

Good to Know:

  • Well-adapted to South East Queensland’s dry conditions and coastal exposure.
  • Flowers attract native bees and butterflies, contributing to pollination networks.
