Native to eastern Australia, particularly from the south coast of New South Wales to Cape York in far north Queensland, extending up to 500 km beyond the inland ranges. It typically grows in sandy or sandstone-derived soils but can also be found in basalt soils or rocky areas. Often occurring in moist depressions or along watercourses, it is also native to Lord Howe Island. | |
Leaf information: | Small, needle-like, aromatic green leaves |
Preferred Soil: | Prefers well-drained soils. Will tolerate a range of conditions, including poor soils, but thrives in slightly dry to moderately moist environments |
This hardy and versatile shrub features small, aromatic, needle-like foliage and a profusion of creamy white flowers that bloom in spring and summer. Its dense growth and delicate flowers make it a perfect addition to wildlife gardens, attracting bees and other pollinators. With its drought and frost tolerance, it thrives in a variety of garden conditions, adding charm to rockeries, borders, and native plantings.
Care Considerations: | Requires low to moderate watering and becomes drought-tolerant once established. Organic mulch helps retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilisation is minimal, but a light feed with a native plant fertiliser during the growing season can promote healthy growth. Pruning after flowering helps maintain shape and encourage denser growth. |
