Why we love this plant!

This Grevillea is exceptionally well-suited to South East Queensland, thriving in well-drained soils from coastal dunes to inland gardens. Its creamy-white, spider-like flowers bloom year-round, attracting nectar-feeding birds such as honeyeaters, as well as native bees. It is drought-tolerant once established, making it a great addition to low-maintenance and wildlife-friendly landscapes.

Care Considerations

Watering preferences:

  • Requires low to moderate watering, becoming drought tolerant once established.

Mulching preferences:

  • Applying organic mulch may help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Fertilising preferences:

  • A low-phosphorus native plant fertiliser during the growing season may support healthy growth.

Pruning preferences:

  • Light pruning after flowering may help maintain shape and encourage more blooms.
  • If cutting into older wood, late autumn is recommended, followed by deep watering.

Good to Know:

  • Bird-attracting – frequented by Red Wattlebirds (Anthochaera carunculata) and New Holland Honeyeaters (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae).
  • Also supports native bees and butterflies.
  • Avoid high-phosphorus fertilisers, as they can be harmful to Grevilleas.
