Preferred Soil:

Can adapt to a range of soil conditions, provided they offer good drainage, however prefers moist, well-drained soils enriched with organic material

We love Cordyline stricta for its slender, dark green foliage and elegant, vertical structure. This Australian native is highly valued for its shade tolerance, making it an excellent choice for adding lush, tropical vibes to shaded corners of the garden. It produces small, fragrant purple or blue flowers, followed by dark berries that attract birds and provide a delightful contrast against its glossy leaves. Ideal for understory plantings, containers, or shaded garden beds.

Care Considerations:

Drought-tolerant once established requiring minimal watering except during prolonged dry periods, would benefit from mulching to retain soil moisture. Pruning is generally not required except to remove damaged leaves or maintain size. No fertilisation is required however an occasional spread of a slow-release fertiliser can be used.
