Why we love this plant!

Clusters of bright yellow flowers appear year-round above silvery foliage, creating contrast and colour in low-maintenance native gardens. This spreading groundcover supports pollinators like bees and butterflies and is well-suited to sunny spots across South East Queensland. A good option for borders, rockeries, or mass planting, it’s valued for its drought tolerance, soft texture, and ability to brighten difficult garden areas with little effort.

Care Considerations

Watering preferences:

  • Water regularly until established, then reduce frequency. Drought-tolerant once established.

Mulching preferences:

  • Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Fertilising preferences:

  • Generally not necessary; if needed, use a low-phosphorus native plant fertiliser.

Pruning preferences:

  • A light prune after flowering can help maintain shape and encourage dense growth.

Good to Know:

  • Highly attractive to native bees, hoverflies, and small butterflies including the Grass-dart Butterfly (Taractrocera spp.).
