Why we love this plant!

A dense evergreen shrub that produces white flowers and red fruit, attracting birds and beneficial insects. Adapted to coastal gardens and sandy soils, it is well-suited to South East Queensland’s warm and dry conditions. Its compact growth makes it suitable for low hedges or border plantings.

Care Considerations

Watering preferences:

  • Drought tolerant once established, but a generous watering for a couple of weeks after planting may support strong root growth.
  • Ensure soil is well-draining to prevent overwatering issues.

Mulching preferences:

  • Applying mulch may help maintain soil temperature and reduce weed growth.

Fertilising preferences:

  • Fertilisation is generally not required, but a slow-release fertiliser may support growth.

Pruning preferences:

  • Pruning may help maintain shape and encourage denser growth.

Good to Know:

  • Hardy and adaptable to a range of soil conditions.
